Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
This policy explains what My Data Keep collects, why, and your rights. We aim to collect only what we need to run the service.
1. What we collect
- Account details: your name, email, and optional phone number.
- Recipient numbers you save as beneficiaries and the networks they belong to.
- Transaction records: purchases, wallet funding, reserve activity, and referral rewards.
- Delivery details for Groceries orders: the recipient name, phone number, street address and landmark you save, and the orders placed against them.
- Technical data needed to operate and secure the service (e.g. login sessions).
We do not store your card details — those are handled by our PCI-compliant payment partner (e.g. Paystack).
2. How we use it
To deliver data, operate your wallet and the Emergency Data Reserve, calculate loyalty and referral rewards, deliver Groceries orders to the address you chose, prevent fraud, provide support, and meet legal obligations.
From your purchase history we also work out when each bundle is expected to expire, estimate how often you buy, and suggest a plan. These are estimates from what you bought, not readings of your phone or your data balance, which we cannot see. We email you before a bundle is expected to expire; you can switch those emails off in Settings.
3. Who we share it with
We share only what is necessary with: telecom data aggregators (to deliver your order), payment processors (to take payment), and email providers (to send account emails such as password resets). If you use the fact-check lookup or the Find assistant on the Find page, the words you type are also sent to Google services, as section 5 explains. We do not sell your personal data.
For a Groceries delivery, the person delivering is given the recipient name, phone number and address for that order, because they cannot deliver it otherwise. They are given it for that delivery only.
4. Data retention & security
We keep transaction records as needed for accounting and legal reasons. Passwords are stored only as secure hashes, never in plain text. We use reasonable technical measures to protect your data, though no system is perfectly secure.
5. DataKeep Find
If you ask us to find something. Find requests happen on WhatsApp, so the conversation lives in WhatsApp rather than in our system — we do not store your request as a record in your account. We keep our own notes on what people ask for, so we know which services to cover, and those notes are not tied to your account.
If you ask us to check something. The same applies: the conversation lives in WhatsApp, and we keep our own notes of what people ask us to check, so we know which scams and claims are going around. Those notes are not tied to your account either. What you send may include other people's details; we use it to check it and to reply to you. Please do not send passwords, PINs, one-time codes or card numbers.
If you look something up yourself. Where the Find page offers a box to look up a claim, the words you type are sent to Google's Fact Check Tools, which searches for fact-checks that other organisations have already published. That means those words leave our system and are handled under Google's own privacy policy. We do not save what you type: it is not added to your account or to our records, and it is not written to our logs. Before anything is sent, long numbers such as phone and account numbers are removed. Please do not type passwords, PINs, one-time codes or card numbers.
If you ask the Find assistant. Where the Find page offers an “Ask Find” box, what you type is sent to our search assistant, which uses Google's Gemini, an AI service, to understand your request, and Google Maps to look for places near the area you name. Those words leave our system and are handled under Google's own terms and privacy policy. We do not save what you type: it is not added to your account or to our records, and it is not written to our logs. We keep only a count of questions and whether each one was answered or passed to a person, so we can control what the assistant costs. The assistant cannot see your account, wallet or orders. Results from Google Maps have not been checked by us. Please do not type passwords, PINs, one-time codes or card numbers.
If you apply to be listed as a business. We collect the business name, what you do, your area, and the phone or WhatsApp number you give us. We use it to decide whether to list you, and to call and confirm the details before we do.
If we list you, we pass those details on — that is the point. Once your business is approved, we give your business name, what you do, your area and your contact number to people asking for that kind of service. If you would rather not be listed any more, tell us on the Support page and we will take you off.
We do not charge you to be listed, and we take no share of whatever you and a customer agree between yourselves.
6. Your rights
You can view and update your details on the Settings page, and request access to or deletion of your personal data (subject to records we must keep by law) via the Support page.
